Capital Gold Group Company Reviews – BBB & TrustLink

Capital Gold Group Review

Business Consumer Alliance: AAA Rating with 12 Complaints Closed in the Last 3 Years (read more)

Quick Note About the Business Consumer Alliance and BBB: The Business Consumer Alliance was started in 1936 and formerly operated as the Better Business Bureau of the Southland (Southern California).  There were some issues between this group and the BBB and the group broke off and became the Business Consumer Alliance.  Possible issues are rumored to be issues with high company ratings (like A+, A or A-) from the BBB despite high numbers of complaints for certain companies. So, for companies in Southern California, the BCA might be a better reference to use for complaints against companies that reside in this area (where a lot of gold companies are located).

Capital Gold Group has a great online reputation.  In this Capital Gold Review, you can easily see that their BBB, TrustLink, and BCA ratings are excellent.

Reviewing the complaints seems to indicate that there some miscommunications regarding types of coins ordered, pricing, management fees, and a few other items.  While Capital Gold Group does seem to do a good job for most customers, a pattern of miscommunications with customers is a little alarming.

Types of Gold Coins Recommended

When we called Capital Gold Group, we were told that Proof coins were strongly recommended over bullion, which indicated that we might get steered in that direction if we had proceeded with them.

IRA Fees

Another area of concern is the IRA fee schedule.  Capital Gold Group uses Self Directed IRA Services as their custodian.  This custodian may charge a higher amount for storage and administration and base it on the size of your account rather than charge you a flat fee.  This is an area we would examine closely before doing business with CGG.
